We look forward to being a centre for 'the new paradigm', a living, dynamic and evolving 'village', prescribed or limited by nothing more than the creativity, imagination and talents of each and every one who joins in.

Eco-Chateau is in formation. It’s time to ‘walk the talk’: Our project’s aim is to help break the cycle of dependency on corporations and governments and to begin the process of creating a more intelligent and heartfelt life for ourselves, for the wider community around us and for our beautiful planet.

Many are waking up to the fact that solutions offered by the present system are redundant. Huge numbers of people are experiencing waves of longing to live a different way, without fear or disconnection from each other and the natural world within a fuller recognition of what or who we are as humans.

A sustainable model for living within the natural world. In practical terms, Eco Chateau will be a revival of the model of an ancient village, with collective activities and sharing that supports the private and personal lives of each. Lonliness and isolation will be a thing a thing of the past as there will always be activities to join in with, if you choose.  The chateau will form part of the village, not, of course, as a feudal manor, but as something which will enhance the community life. So, with a combination of generations, talents, skills, equipment and resouces, we will create a strong and thriving village where everyone will be able to contribute something important.

The first stage of our project will be the creation of a community which will be a model for a new way of living. Our purpose will be to teach others what we know so that we can offer opportunities to learn and change.  

We will aim to make a great contribution to the local area as well as to those coming from further afield in:

• education - providing workshops in a range of environmental & ecological activities, health and the arts
• economic stimulus for the local community through tourism and the promotion of local goods & services 
• the sharing of ideas and skills exchanges
• the seeding of new projects and community activities based on the principles of sustainable living

We imagine those living here will have a combination of talents in many fields: sustainable living, permaculture & deep ecology, alternative technology, esoteric and spiritual arts, the healing arts, music, education, dance, drama etc. as well as plumbers, electricans, builders, computer programmers, IT specialists, those skilled in PR, marketing, organisation, management, administration, recycling and 'fixing things' and most importantly, those who have a talent for doing all those things in life that don't get a fancy title but which are THE most fundamental contributions, without which, everything would fall apart. You will get an idea here of the talents of those who have expressed an interest so far.

Each will build their own homes on the property, establishing at the same time, a yurt village as accommodation for guests and volunteers. Communal areas will be created in large yurts and over time, barns of the chateau will be renovated to provide more space.

Throughout the setting up process we will teach and mentor people. Those members of the community who require an income will be able to generate sufficient for their needs. Affordable workshops and volunteering will create inclusivity for all.

The creation of all manner of abundance will ensue from the vision of each - these are mine:

...a school for the community's children.

...small constructions nestled at various locations around the land as facilities for healing, music, meditation, art etc...

...a natural swimming pool within the stream and fed by underground water sources...

...a centre for the study and practice of alternative living, science, technology, agriculture...

Seeding new projects: The effect of our success will enable us to raise funds for new community start-ups and we will provide people to mentor their members in all the skills that are needed to make them a success.

Chateau de Cautine is set in a place of beauty and inspiration. In the heart of rural France and 500 metres above sea level, we have 11.5 hectares (27 acres) of fields and woodland, a stream, two wells, underground springs, huge and ancient trees and beyond this, forests, gorges, lakes, riversand mountains. The chateau, set on the edge of a small hamlet, is a 17th century ‘maison forte’, full of wonderful original furniture, history and comforts and houses 18 people.
