Sholto, July 2015 "Totally unspoilt, charming and beautiful. A fantastic place for families and friends to be together. It is rustic and not for those looking for mod cons, but rather an escape from all that. Our host was a source of excellent information too. Amazing local produce and places to eat nearby. We would go back."

Corinne, May 2016 "Very nice house in a quiet green area. We stayed in May to 11 people and it was very nice (dining room perfect for family gatherings). The rooms are spacious and comfortable bedding (note all the beds are not suitable for tall people). Ruth is very nice, discreet and available. Beware though, the castle is very poorly insulated and the heating bill can quickly fly away ..... and the ground floor is cold with drafts. The kitchen equipment is a bit basic but BBQ in the garden." (Translated from French)

Helen C, May 2016  "We had a great time of reunion with friends, verdant and calm. This old property is authentic and offered a nice change of scenery. The rooms are very large and furnished with taste by respecting the old style. Wonderful views from the chateau, positioned high on the hill, the beautiful countryside stretching to the horizon. We were very welcomed by the owner who is charming and discreet." (translated from French)

Elsa, September 2014 "24 unforgettable hours thanks to the charm of this beautiful castle and the kindness and generosity of Ruth."

Richard & Alexa held their wedding here in June, 2016

"Magical, rustic farmhouse - great for a rural wedding"

We decided to get married in France and Chateau Cautine provided a beautiful and natural setting for the wedding. Ruth was very helpful and generous and kindly had great recommendations for restaurants, markets or good places to visit. There is wifi in the main house on the ground floor which was invaluable, and the kitchen has lots of crockery, cutlery, and pots/pans. The Chateau is rustic but that is one of the reasons we chose it. We were also drawn to Ruth's plans for the eco-village. We had 70 guests for the wedding 12 of which stayed in the Chateau itself. The bedrooms were spacious and homely, and the beds comfortable. We had fresh bedding and towels too. Everyone said how much they enjoyed the venue with it's rural charm, stunning views and great host. The surrounding area is gorgeous. Woodlands, a gorge with a castle in it and Argentat nearby which a charming sleepy town with the Dordogne running through it. We would definitely recommend Ruth and the Chateau, and hope to go back again soon."
Mrs Tuppen of Totnes stayed in June, 2013 for a family holiday with 4 generations united together!
