Chateau de Cautine lies 500 meters above sea-level, surrounded by the vast tranquil countryside of one of the least populated parts of France. It is a region of high plateaus and deeply incised gorges with mountains, lakes, forests and rivers including the magnificent Dordogne river just 15 minutes away. The chateau comprises beautiful, rustic but comfortable well-furnished accommodation full of original antiques, masses of outside space to roam around in and a large salt-water swimming pool. On the property there are two small forests with many beautiful old trees, two streams, two wells and a few underground springs. The chateau is on the edge of the famous Dordogne region of France with its vineyards, historic towns and villages. Nearby, there is a wealth of adventure sports activities including canoeing, canyoning, rock climbing, hang-gliding, mountain biking, skiing and more. There are villages within biking distance of the chateau with a range of useful shops & services. Slightly further afield are many picturesque medieval towns such as Argentat, Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne and Collonges la Rouges, listed as one of the ''prettiest villages in France”. |

The Chateau Setting There is a large grassy terrace at the back of the house where you can enjoy outdoor eating at long tables under shady trees. Spend time just soaking up the silence, the wind rustling between the trees, the cicadas and crickets clicking out their lazy summer melody, birdsong, lizards slithering over ancient stones, cows grazing across the valley, deer drinking at the distant stream… | |||
